Jozani Forest

Jozani Forest is located 35km southeast of Stone Town with an area of ​​approximately 1,000 hectares, it is the only natural forest remaining on Unguja Island. Antelopes and leopards were once found there. Currently, it is the habitat of Red Colobus Monkeys and Blue Monkey Sykes. The red colobus monkey is one of the rarest and most endangered species on the planet. Those found in this forest are very friendly and like to be photographed. They can be approached and seen up close using your guide. Other interesting features of this forest are coastal evergreen bushland, mangrove forest, grasslands and saline groundwater forests.
